Happy Hanukkah everyone!!
As I am writing this the sun is shining super bright and there are almost no clouds in the sky, a true Hanukkah miracle! These days the sun is rising a little after 9am and setting at around 3:30pm. The odd hours of daylight are not throwing me off as much as I thought it would, the most difficult is the fact that even when the sun is up, the majority of the time it is extremely overcast so it is still a little dark all day. So I really love the days when the sun is actually out and I mostly celebrate by posting pictures on my instagram story (@alanabz, @alanabzadventures follow my instagrams for more frequent updates)!!
One thing is for sure, I have a whole new perspective on weather now. From living in a place thats almost always hot to living in a place thats almost always cold, I am looking forward to (hopefully) living in a place that has all four seasons in the future!
Last night I celebrated Hanukkah at the community center where there was a big candle lighting ceremony and "Hanukkah Market" that lots of people from the Community and Synagogue attended. The whole thing happened outside and the weather was not so great as it was raining and the ground was a mixture of snow, ice, and dirt but that did not stop people from showing up! I was mostly just trying not to slip and fall in front of the entire Jewish Community of Estonia the entire time, but there were some kids running around and sliding in the gross sludge and loving every second of it!
Here are some pictures from the big event-
This might be my last post for a while because the true holiday craziness begins tomorrow!
